Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • I am planning to visit next July. Traveling with 2 babies under 3 and 1 7 year old as well as 4 adults. We will be staying on site in Orlando. The 64 dollar questions is the dining plan worth it? I've seen various info both pro and con.

  • Hi Diana!

First thing you want to figure out is what type of dining experiences you would like to have on vacation. If your family is looking to enjoying character dining locations or a nice sit down meal each day,I would consider looking into Disney's Standard Dining Plan.

Disney's Standard Dining Plan includes 1 table-service meal,1 quick-service meal and 1 snack per a person for every night of your stay, also a refillable resort mug.To get the most benefit and effectively the biggest savings from using Disney's Dining Plan is to plan where and how to use your dining credits.Something that is not for everyone, especially guests who like to eat on the fly.I'm always a numbers kind of gal, let's do a one day comparison to see how Disney's Dining Plan could save you money.

Disney Standard Dining Plan Cost per a night/person
    $58.66 ages 10+ $18.88 ages 3-9

    Day at Epcot:
    Sunshine Season Quick-Service- $17.07 ages 10+ $6.99 ages 3-9
    Karamell-Kuche(snack) $4.49 per a person
Akershus Royal Banquet Hall $38.99 ages 10+ $22.99 ages 3-9

    Total cost per one day:
    $60.55 ages 10+   $34.37 ages 3-9

Keep in mind that I am using this as an example and prices are subject to change, but you can see that there are definitely savings to using Disney's Standard Dining Plan.Plus, it is nice to not worry about budget while on vacation because your meals are already paid for.Disney makes it really easy to keep track of your Dining Plan credits, remaining credits will be printed at the bottom of each receipt.

Popular dining locations, such as character dining, will be booked months in advance so make sure to make your reservations starting at 180 days from your arrival date in order to secure the time and locations that you wish to receive.

I hope this helps, Diana and please let me know if you have anymore questions!

    Happy Planning!
    Mandy
