Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • We are staying POFQ and have the dining plan for 6 nights. I have booked our table service meals except 1 and everything seems to be booked. Any suggestions on short notice? Can the table service be traded in for counter?

  • Hi Daphne! Have you really tried everything? I ask this, because with over 200 restaurants at Walt Disney World, every single restaurant cannot possibly be busy during the time you are looking for. I think people focus on the hot spots like Cinderella's Royal Table, California Grill, Flying Fish, Chef Mickey's, etc. There are soooooo many more places to choose from.

Case in point. I was just at Walt Disney World for the last two weeks. I made all of my dining reservations six months in advance. But there were sometimes that we were hungry when I didn't have a reservation. I literally called Disney dining and said, "what do you have in about 30 minutes?" I got into Portobello Yacht Club, Spoodles, Beaches and Cream, Le Cellier, and San Angel Inn, all within 20 minutes. And these places are all really awesome Disney restaurants and this is during the height of summer season!

Let's say you are at the Magic Kingdom. Disney dining could tell you that a table is available at Kona Cafe which is a short monorail ride to the Polynesian Resort. You could have lunch and bounce back to the park in minutes.

I didn't use any special tricks. The difference was that I asked them what was available and I was flexible enough to go there. So, call back, be flexible and you will have luck!

    Have a great time planning!
