Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- I am thinking about purchasing a tour for my parents. I was curious on your thoughts between the Keys to the Kingdom tour vs. the Backstage Tour. It is a big difference in price. What are the pros and cons to each?

- Hi Heidi! You have narrowed down to two of the best tours on property that give the guests a great overview of the Disney parks. Either one would be a great treat for your parents.
The biggest difference between the two tours is the time and location. The Backstage Magic Tour is longer at about 7 hours and will cover three of the four parks on property. Guests will see areas that are backstage in the Magic Kingdom as well as the coveted sight of the utilidors under the park. They will also have a behind the scenes look at the Living Seas in Epcot and go backstage for other computer generated attractions in that park. The final park to visit is Hollywood Studios where guests will enjoy lunch. You see quite a bit in just seven hours!
The Keys to the Kingdom tour is probably the most popular as it is a 4 1/2 - 5 hour time. It is strictly in the Magic Kingdom park but explains how the entire Walt Disney World idea came to be back in the 60's to when it opened in 1971. You visit several backstage areas as well as the utilidors. You also enjoy lunch in the park at the Harbour House restaurant.
When deciding on which to surprise your parents think about the time each tour takes. Will your parents enjoy spending a full day visiting three parks or would they prefer to spend a half a day and concentrate on the wonderful Magic Kingdom park. During hotter months the idea of being in one place versus hopping on a bus and traveling around is more enticing to many. But if they have interests in the parks beyond the Magic Kingdom then the Backstage Magic tour is a great way to see so much more.
If you are not sure then I would go with the Keys to the Kingdom tour. It offers great insight and is just long enough to see and do a lot while still having time to do other things that day. Tough call but they will love either experience!
