Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • My family is going to WDW April 7-12 '08, first time for all of us. We have a 4 year old boy who loves Star Wars (to my wife's dismay)! He knows about the Jedi Training, but does he need to bring his own light saber (he has four of them)?

  • The Jedi Training Academy is a must for any young Padawan and especially for those students strong in the force!

Training lightsabers and robes will be given to the Jedi Apprentices that are chosen to take part in the Academy. Both items are returned at the end of the show and a certificate is given to each participant. Lightsabers are handed out once the Younglings take the Jedi oath and listen to the safety rules.

Our son fortunately got chosen at the first show that we saw, although we were prepared to go to every show that day if needed! Darth Vader, the storm troopers and the music make this a Must See for any Star Wars fan.

I recommend arriving very early and asking a Cast Member where to stand. Have your son wear some thing that makes him stand out from the crowd. The Jedi Master that selects the participants identifies the children by saying “you in the red glasses” and so on. Also jumping up and down, yelling “pick me” is a great attention-getter.

We were in tears watching our son live out his Jedi dreams. I hope your family enjoys it too.

Check your Hollywood Studios Times Guide and try to go to the first Academy of the day. "Activate your lightsaber"!
