- Hi Andrea,
The only place to interact with Dolphins at Walt Disney World is at the Dolphins in Depth tour at Epcot. This experience is available for guests ages 13 and up. The tour consists of three parts - an educational session about dolphins, a viewing of dolphin training and behavior, and the actual dolphin interaction. During the dolphin interaction section, you're in the water with the dolphins for a little more than half an hour, plus you need time to change in and out of your wetsuit, etc. There's no way to just do part of the tour - in order to touch the dolphins you need to participate in the education and training. Also, you should know that while you do get into the water with dolphins and can touch them several times, you're not free swimming with them like you might at some other locations.
I took the Dolphins in Depth tour with my husband and three teenage daughters last December. I had never done anything like this before and found the entire experience fascinating. The educational parts of the tour gave me much more appreciation for these magnificent animals and vastly increased my understanding of their care and training. It really put the actual dolphin encounter in much better perspective. My husband is sometimes a bit of a fuddy duddy when it comes to things like tours, but he absolutely loved this one and still talks about it over a year later.
Good luck with your planning. Please let us know what else we can do to help.
