Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • My foster child is afraid of men, especially large men with low voices. We want to go to Storytime with Belle, but I hear they pick a man from the audience to dress up as the Beast. How can I let them know that they should pick a small, girlie man?

  • Hello Anne and welcome to the Moms Panel.  Enchanted Tales with Belle in  the Magic Kingdom is a fun, interactive story time that features Belle, Lumiere and members of the audience who are chosen to play the remaining roles in this beloved story.  I have had the opportunity to experience this very unique attraction, and from my experience, I can tell you that the role of the Beast was assigned to a very tiny, probably 4 yrs old girl. I think they try to choose the exact opposite of what you would think would be the stereotypical "beast", and the small girl with her even smaller roar was absolutely adorable. The only costume is a small cape, so no one actually dresses up as the beast, rather, small props are used to signify which role the guest will be playing.

It would be impossible to know the make-up of the group whom you will be viewing Enchanted Tales with Belle with.  The different roles in the story are assigned in a room just prior to entering the area where the story will be told.  At this time you will be able to see who in your group has been given the role of the Beast, and you can decide if this would be someone whom your child would or would not be comfortable with.  If you decide that it's not a good fit, just mention to the Cast Member upon entering the final room for the story that you would prefer to leave at that time.  They will be happy to show you where to exit and it won't be a problem.

If you are still unsure, I might recommend skipping this attraction until you are more confident that it will be enjoyed by all members of your family.  There are so many wonderful rides and attractions at Magic Kingdom that you will still have a great day and everyone will be happy!  I wish you all a very magical visit to the Happiest Place on Earth!
