Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • We leave for our first trip in 46 days! I have been reading the allearsnet and heard about the Sword in the Stone Ceremony. I was wondering if they still do this. My grandson will be turning 5 while we are there and this would be a great start to the trip.

  • Hi Phyllis! I'm pretty sure they still do this wicked fun event at the Magic Kingdom. OK, I'm from Massachusetts, so I can say "wicked" without embarrassment. It's a great show of chivalry and derring do and Merlin takes members from the audience into the show. In fact, my dear husband was picked as the handsome and strong champion two years ago! Of course despite his impressive muscles(yeah me!) he wasn't able to budge the sword from the stone.

Merlin introduced an itty bitty, little princess, who was around 6 years old and about 35 pounds easily pulled the sword out to crowd cheers and fanfare! Check the Magic Kingdom Times Guide for when the show goes on!
