Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • I am taking my daughter to WDW July 12-18. She will be 12.5 months. What are good attractions for her age? I am also worried about the heat. Any tips for hot weather? Do you reccomend the water parks or the resort (Contemporary) pool for young ones?

  • Hi there, Katie!

First off--I'm SO excited to hear about you taking your little princess to Walt Disney World, and even MORE excited to hear that your trip is rapidly approaching.  HOW exciting!

Based on our experience with taking our little ones, the attractions in Fantasyland rank HIGH on the list!  They also really enjoy Playhouse Disney-Live on Stage! at Disney's Hollywood Studios.  She might also enjoy Voyage of the Little Mermaid as well!

We've taken our fair share of little ones during the summer months to Walt Disney World.  Our middle son took his first trip at 7 weeks old during the summer, so I completely understand your concerns.  Here are the items from our personal packing list:  A small, battery-operated clip-on fan for the stroller, COOL sunglasses to protect the eyes, and a wide brim "floppy" (as my kids call it) hat.  Take your time, and schedule in a midday break at the resort for a nap and some cool down time.  Don't forget the sun block!

While the water parks do offer areas for the little ones, in my opinion your little one will enjoy the pool at the Contemporary just as much. The resort pool will offer her a chance to cool off AND relax.

I've also included a video on the FABULOUS Baby Care Centers--the TOP place for us to visit on ANY trip with little ones!

I hope you have a MAGICAL time!
