Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- How old does my child have to be to ride a ride alone?

- Hi Cheri!
Having children with a variety of ages it is inevitable that interests will vary and what one is willing to try the other one is not. Which can make it a little more difficult if I am doing a solo trip with my crew, but not impossible. :-)
Recently this year, Disney announced that no child under the age of 14 will be allowed to enter any park without being accompanied by someone over the age of 14. My children are not quite ready to tackle the parks by themselves, actually I'm just not ready, but it's a good rule to keep in mind for possible future visits. For most attractions, the rule of thumb is they must meet the height requirement and be over the age of 7 in order to ride alone. If the child is not quite 7 or looks as if they may be younger than 7, they must have someone over the age of 14 to accompany them on the attraction.
Make sure to take advantage of Disney's Rider Switch Pass, also referred to as Baby Swap, if traveling with another adult or teenager over the age of 14. At participating attractions just let the cast member know that you would like a Rider Switch Ticket, this ticket will look very similar to Disney's FastPass. When the first group has experienced the attractions, the waiting adult can then go on the attraction plus bring 3 extra guests by entering through the FastPass line. This has helped me through numerous vacations when I was traveling with little ones who were not quite ready to take on the bigger attractions.
