  • What rides and/or attractions can my 16 month old daughter participate in at Disney World especially the Magic Kingdom? I know on the website most rides say good for all ages, does that include her age? Any tips or advice would be good too! Thanks!

  • Hi Sarah!  You are going to love visiting Walt Disney World with your daughter!  Just wait until you see her little face light up in reaction to the lights, sounds, attractions, and characters!

Every park has something for a 16 month old.  However, there are height requirements for some attractions.  These are posted at the entrance to each attraction.

Some of our favorites for children at this age at the Magic Kingdom are ones like It's A Small World, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Peter Pan's Flight, Prince Charming Regal Carousel, Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, The Jungle Cruise, Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin, Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover, Magic Carpets of Aladdin, and more!  Most of the time you can hold your child on your lap on these rides.

There are some rides which are a bit "darker", but if she is not easily frightened, try Pirates of the Caribbean, Snow White's Scary Adventures, and The Haunted Mansion.

Don't forget the amazing entertainment attractions, such as Mickey's Philharmagic, Carousel of Progress, The Hall of Presidents, and The Country Bear Jamboree, to enjoy together.

This list for the Magic Kingdom is not exhaustive, but I hope it serves to give you an idea of how much there is to enjoy with your 16 month old daughter!

My best advice:  arrive at park opening to enjoy as many attractions early in the day - before what I call "melt-down time"; allow time for naps (use the Baby Care Centers in each park for naps and diaper changes); look into the "Baby Swap" option, which allows you and another guest to take turns enjoying the other attractions without having to wait in line twice; don't forget to take or rent a stroller; and bring essentials in a waterproof bag!

Have a wonderful time!  Enjoy making memories that will last a lifetime for you with your daughter!
