Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- My family is considering staying at the Holiday Inn in the Downtown Disney area. If we walk to the downtown, are we allowed to ride the Disney buses? Is it possible to ride these buses to Magic Kingdom, even if we "transfer" at a Disney resort?

We have often stayed at non-Disney Resorts or with family in Orlando. You do not have to be a Disney World Resort Hotel Guest to take advantage of most Disney Transportation at Walt Disney World. The exception to this is Disney's Magical Express Service which provides complimentary transportation to Disney's Resort Hotel Guests to and from the Orlando International Airport.
All Disney World Guests, including non-resort hotel Guests are welcome to use the Monorails, Disney buses, boat launches and ferry boats at no charge. Feel free to walk over to Downtown Disney, climb aboard, relax and leave the driving to the friendly Cast Members at Disney World.
Currently, you would have to take a bus to a resort and then transfer to bus for a theme park. They did test an afternoon bus from Animal Kingdom to Downtown Disney this fall but no announcements of making that permanent and it was only in the afternoon. Walking to Downtown Disney and taking a bus to a resort and then transferring to go to a theme park could prove to be time consuming and you may find that your time is more valuable than paying the price of paying to park at the theme parks. Keep in mind that you'll only have to pay to park once per day. If you park hop and leave the park and return later in the day, you'll just need to show the Cast Member your parking receipt to enter on the same day.
Please feel free to visit with all of your planning questions. Its our pleasure to assist you!
Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
