Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- Hi, DD age 7, me and DH are arriving at christmas. What will we miss if we dont go to MK the 24th? What would you recommend for this time of year? Should we make dinner reservations for that day and around what time would be better? Thanks so much!

Hi Ashley! Congratulations on your family's visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
I don't believe you'll be missing anything on the 24th at Magic Kingdom. However, I know that if you wish to see Santa Claus at the Walt Disney World Resort, you'll need to arrive on Christmas Eve. Santa usually leaves for the North Pole before working his biggest night of the year! After that Goofy takes over his duties at the Downtown Disney location.
If you do decide to visit Magic Kingdom on either the 24th or the 25th, plan to arrive early and don't exit the theme park until you are done touring for the day. It's not unusual to see Magic Kingdom closing due to capacity during the busy holiday season. If you want to watch both the afternoon and evening parades, book dinner around 6:00 p.m.
I would definitely recommend making dining reservations now. Many Disney Dining locations will be offering a Prix Fix Menu on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Do look into the special Holiday Dining options. Call (407) WDW-DINE to inquire about availability. If they still have reservations for Citricos on Christmas Eve, book it! You'll have the opportunity to meet Santa Claus in the lobby at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. In addition, you'll also be able to see the life-size Gingerbread House you can only find there. I also suggest going Resort Hopping at some point. You will absolutely LOVE it!
Enjoy celebrating the holidays Disney-style!
