Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • We are visiting WDW in April (1st two weeks) and my sons love Star Wars. Will there be any Star Wars events happening at that time? I know the Star Wars weekends are typically in June, but was hoping there would something in April too. Thanks.

  • Star Wars Weekends are usually held in May and/or June.

During your visit in April, if your sons are over 3 years of age and 40" or taller, they can enjoy Star Tours. As you approach the attraction, you'll first see the huge AT-AT walker. When you enter the queue, you'll pass some familiar droids. This is a super intergalactic simulator ride which will have you jumping to light speed and passing through icy asteroids on your tour. Star Wars fans will delight in being in the middle of an Imperial battle. Hold on!

Make sure to see the Jedi Training Academy which takes place in front of the AT-AT walker. Kids 4-12 years of age (much to my husband’s disappointment) are chosen at random to become Apprentices. When my son was chosen the Jedi Knight said "you with the red glasses". He didn't want to wear his sunglasses but I told him they'd help him to stand out. Yeah Mom! Light sabers and robes are provided for use during the training. Check the Hollywood Studios Times Guide and arrive early.

A great photo-op is across from Tatooine Traders (gift shop) where your boys will have fun posing on the speeder bike.

In addition, stop at Downtown Disney's Once Upon A Toy shop where your boys can build their own light sabers (for a fee).
