Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • The weather forecast is predicting rain, but we won't let that stop us! Any suggestions for rainy day attractions?
  • - Asked by Janet from Indiana on 2/1/2010
  • Hi Janet!

The first advice I would give is don't leave!  While most guests probably do not want it to rain on their vacation, my experience is the rain thins out the crowds at the theme parks, especially if it is more than just a passing storm.  Most of Walt Disney World can be enjoyed in the rain!  Rain ponchos are available throughout the theme parks

If you want to stay inside an attraction in the hope that the rain will pass before you have to go outside, then I recommend the following:

Space Mountain, Mickey's PhilharMagic, Pirates of the Caribbean , and the Hall of Presidents at the Magic Kingdom.  These attractions are either long or generally have a long line out of the rain.

American Adventure Pavilion, Canada Pavilion, China Pavilion, Ellen's Energy Adventure, France Pavilion, Innoventions, the Land Pavilion, the Seas with Nemo and Friends Pavilion, and Spaceship Earth at Epcot.

Muppet Vision 3-D, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, the American Idol Experience, The Great Movie Ride, and the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Dinosaur, It's Tough to be a Bug, Festival of the Lion King, and Finding Nemo - The Musical at Disney's Animal Kingdom.  Animal Kingdom is the one park that you might want to visit on a non-rainy day.  There isn't a lot of opportunity there to get out of the rain!

Other options include going to Downtown Disney and enjoying DisneyQuest.

Have fun planning and write back if you have any more questions!
