Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- Hi Kimberly! You previously answered a question by saying to avoid EMH. Can you elaborate on this? Two books said avoid, two say go during EMH. We'll be going 5/3 - 5/11, trying to plan- confused about what parks to go on what days. All details please!

- Your game plan will depend on whether you are trying to avoid crowds, give your family as many touring hours per day as possible or a combination of both.
Years ago, our family always participated in morning Extra Magic Hours. When touring during the winter months, EMH gives visitors extra time in an already short day. Families vacationing for less than a week, can squeeze in extra touring by using EMH.
In the last two years, I’ve found EMH to be increasingly crowded. When we toured last June, we avoided all EMHs and also avoided waiting in lines despite the crowds.
Certainly, if your family likes to get up early, try a morning EMH if the park offers enough attractions for your family. For example, morning EMH at Hollywood Studios only offers Toy Story Mania, Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Star Tours and Muppet Vision 3D. With young kids, I would tour Toy Story Mania and then head to Muppet Vision. If you tour a morning EMH park, park hop to another park by lunch time. The EMH park will become increasingly crowded throughout the morning.
For your vacation, I would do the following plan:
5/3 Animal Kingdom
5/5 Hollywood Studios
5/6 Magic Kingdom
5/8 Magic Kingdom
5/9 Magic Kingdom, if you want to see SpectroMagic, otherwise choose Animal Kingdom
5/10 Hollywood Studios, if you want to see Fantasmic, otherwise Animal Kingdom, Epcot or Magic Kingdom
This schedule takes into account crowd patterns by avoiding parks with EMH or entertainment such as Fantasmic and SpectroMagic.
Every family likes to tour differently. Some families tour all day. Others enjoy an afternoon break at their resort. Families with teens may find touring late night EMHs to be useful if the kids insist on sleeping in. My touring strategy is always to avoid crowds and enjoy a relaxing vacation, including mid-day breaks at our resort.
