  • Have my magic bands in hand. First question are they ok to go through airport security x ray without erasing any data stored on them? Second I have a premier annual pass. How do I go about getting it linked to my magic band? If I do,will I need the card?

  • Hi Toni!  Your question is a very valid one about going through airport security lines with a Magic Band.  They should be fine as far as the data but I do suggest you take it off going through the screening as I am not sure that it wouldn't set it off as a belt buckle or other heavy jewelry does.

    Now for the not so good news about your Premiere Annual Pass. I also have one and it honestly has been a headache since day one for the new technology. At this time you cannot link this type of pass to your Magic Bands. After many hours spent at Guest Relations I did receive some assistance so I was able to get advance Fastpasses. I was gone for two weeks on a cruise and when I returned they had also assigned an annual pass to my account although it is not the official Premiere Pass that I have. Disney knows this is an issue and is working with their IT group to get something assigned to your My Disney Experience so you can also make your advance fastpasses with the rest of your family. Definitely take your hard copy of the pass with you on your vacation and with you when you head to the parks. Because they are testing we did have issues with our bands and had to enter with the hard copy pass even though the Magic Bands worked for the fastpasses.

    Call the help number and get them working on your Premiere Pass to help link it to your account. It takes some time and if you don't hear back from them check on your own to see if they have fixed it in your account. If they still haven't fixed it upon arrival stop right away to the concierges desk at your resort to get them to get things straightened out. This new technology will just take a lot of patience from all of us faithful Disney guests until the bugs are worked out and it is working smoothly!
