Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • We are sailing mid August on the Dream and soooo excited!! Our children are 5, 7 and 10. We wanted early dining but were bumped to late dining. Our youger children fizzle early. Is there a way to get earlier dining? Is there an advantage to late dining?

  • Hi, Cyndy!

Congratulations on your upcoming cruise on the Disney Dream -- she is a spectacular ship and your family is going to think they're living a dream when you sail!

On the Disney Dream, the main seating for dinner is at 6:00 p.m., and the second seating is at 8:30 p.m. I always prefer second seating (even when my kids were really little) for a couple of reasons:

    1. Although dining is important to my older children, my husband and I, my little kids are really into the live shows.  Therefore, they are the most awake for what they enjoy most. Sometimes, we'll even feed them from quick-service counters or room service before/after the show and let them enjoy the kids' clubs while we linger over dinner.  They've even taken "night naps" in the kids' clubs while we were enjoying our dinner.
    2. It allows to get the most out of the ports.  We joke about always being the last ones on the ship at port -- especially at Castaway Cay.  We're always trying to grab the last bit of adventure, and if you have the first seating for dinner, you have to usually account for coming in and getting dressed in time for being at the restaurant by 6 p.m.

Once you're on board, you can check with Guest Services to see if any space has opened up to swap your dinner seating. However, second seating is really a good option for families -- especially if you know how to plan. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation.

    Bon voyage,

    Andi
