Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • I know 10 year olds can wear dress shorts to dinner on the dream but can men? Can moms wear capris? We set sail on the Dream in Oct. We live in Florida so we like dressy casual.

  • Hi, Rick!

My family and I are from Alabama and spend half of our summers in Florida -- so I completely get wanting to dress in shorts at dinner. Yet, a cruise is an extra special vacation, and on a Disney cruise, you may never have the opportunity on land to experience the family dressed up in opulent settings with professional photographers at your disposal.  Just like you would wear slacks or khakis to a nice restaurant or a wedding reception at home -- you'll want to don a little nicer clothes for the fancy restaurants on board the Disney Dream.

Under the Planning Center on, Disney Cruise Line's dining attire suggestions and requirements vary by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general, most meals are "Cruise Casual"— which means no shorts, swimwear or tank tops. In fact, I require that my 7-year-old wear his khakis and a collared shirt at dinner each night...unless it's pirate night, of course! I personally think that the surroundings call for nicer clothes.  And for moms, a nice pair of capris with a suitable top and some sandals will be perfectly fine in the main three restaurants at dinner.  In fact, on the attached video, I was wearing a pair of capri pants at Animator's Palate as I talked to Crush!

I hope this helps you plan. Please let me know if I can answer more questions for you. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
