Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • I'm planning a disney cruise for a family of 9 ( extended family included)and wanted some advice on the most economical way to go since I'm paying for the trip as a gift. I'm thinking a 7 day Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy. Please give me some advice.

  • Welcome aboard, Tammeka! Your family is very lucky to have you planning a special extended family cruise for them. Disney Cruise Line is the perfect way to vacation with family members of all ages.

A seven-night sailing on the Disney Fantasy might be one of the more expensive options for your large family, versus a seven-night on one of the smaller ships (Magic or Wonder), or the shorter sailings on the other ships. That being said, there are ways to maximize your Disney cruise dollars! If a verandah stateroom isn't a must, you'll find that the Oceanview staterooms and Inside staterooms are roomy and very nice as well! The exciting thing about Inside staterooms on the Fantasy and Dream is that they have magic portholes where you'll see a live video feed of the view outside the ship and Disney characters will occasionally drop by your window to say hello! Check it out in the video I've attached here! That is one way to have an amazing cruise and save a bit of the cost versus the Oceanview and Verandah staterooms.

Check out the itineraries for the Fantasy too. You'll see that the prices vary based on dates, so if you can work your vacation dates around the itineraries that best fit your budget, you'll be ahead of the game too. If your local grocery store offers fuel rewards (cents off per gallon of gas) for the gift cards you buy in the store, you can save too. We shop at Kroger where I get double, triple and sometimes quadruple fuel points on gift cards. I purchase a couple Disney gift cards there each month to help pay off our upcoming cruise and save on filling up the car at the same time! It all helps!

Just keep in mind that the Disney Dream, Magic and Wonder offer exciting itineraries and are beautiful ships too, so don't rule out looking at those as options if the price might fit your budget even better, Tammeka.

Happy planning and please stop back again if I can help with any other questions as you continue planning this exciting vacation!
