  • Sadly, my 14-year-old son's spring break trip to DC has been cancelled. I'd like to make it up to him with a trip to Disney World to a Disney Cruise, but we've a budget of only $500 (not including flight). Is this even possible?

  • Welcome aboard, Dusty! I'm so sorry to hear that your son's spring break trip to our nation's capital has been cancelled. What a disappointment! I'm sure he was really looking forward to that. Surprising him with a different trip is such a sweet thing to do, and I hope you're able to do so.

Unfortunately, as you're looking to travel next month, time is playing against you for booking a discounted Disney cruise. I took a look at some of the current pricing, and for March and April, the 3-night sailings are still running around $1600 and up for a family of two adults and one child. I would encourage you to check out the Find A Cruise page of Disney Cruise Line's website and play around with dates and itineraries on the different ships to see what prices you come up with. If you've got some wiggle room in your budget and are able to find great flight deals, perhaps you could make it work. If not, keep it in mind for the future when you can plan farther out to find the best deals, special promotions and best times to sail to work with your budget. My family sets aside a little money on a Disney Gift Card each time we grocery shop since our local grocery store offers double and sometimes quadruple fuel rewards when purchasing gift cards. This way, we save a ton on filling up the car with gas while we are saving for our Disney vacations by setting aside these Disney Gift Cards. We later use them to pay for our cruise or our Walt Disney World Resort vacation. I hope that helps as you consider a cruise with Disney for the future, Dusty! Please stop back and visit me again if you have any other questions. I'm happy to help!
