Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- We would like to take a cruise with our 13 year old daughter. Will she need a passport for the Caribbean or Bahamas destinations?
- - Asked by Melanie on 8/19/2013
- Ahoy Melanie!
This is a great question and sometimes a bit confusing so I'm glad you asked! When you take a closed-loop cruise (arriving and ending in the same U.S. home port), a certified birth certificate and photo i.d. (for Guests 18 and over) is acceptable. But, with that being said, Disney Cruise Line highly recommends all Guests travel with a valid passport. The reason being is that air travel from the Bahamian and Caribbean ports of call do require passports. In the event of an unlikely emergency at sea or home, a passport will be the only way to get home via airplane. My advice is to check out the passport information located at travel.state.gov so you can make the best decision for your family.
Thank you for using the Moms Panel, Melanie! Please let me know if I can assist you further!
Have a magical day!
