Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- I just want to start with saying the moms panel is awesome. My question is we have a autistic son who is 4 and not potty trained. We were considering a cruise for 2014. Will he be able to enjoy any of the kid activities? Kids decks?

- Ahoy Julie!
Thanks so much for the compliment! It is our pleasure to assist Guests in making their Disney vacations as magical as possible!
Disney Cruise Line does their best to accommodate all their Guests including any with special needs. Young cruisers who visit the Oceaneer Club and Lab are asked to be potty-trained because the youth counselors are not allowed to assist them in the restroom. But, with that being said, each special needs case is handled on an individual basis so it may be that the youth counselors will allow your son to enjoy the spaces during your cruise as long as you check on him often because of the bathroom issue. The Oceaneer Club and Lab does offer "Open House" hours each day in which Guests can enjoy the spaces supervised by an adult. During these times, free play and planned programming is offered so this will give your son the option to experience both. In situations like yours, I always recommend stopping by on the first afternoon to speak to the Youth Activities Manager about your son's needs.
Due to U.S. Public Health regulations on all cruise ships, potty-trained Guests are only allowed to use the pools, spas, and slides onboard. But, since Disney Cruise Line has so many little sailors on their ships, they created a whimsical water play area, Nemo's Reef (Disney Dream and Fantasy) and Mickey's Splash Zone (Disney Magic and Wonder) which I know your son will love! This is a great way for him to enjoy splashtacular fun!
I'm about out of room, Julie! I'd love to help you further so please keep me posted as you continue to plan for a 2014 sailing.
Have a magical day!
