Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • We are considering a Disney Cruies. At the time of the cruise, our twins will be just five weeks shy of their 3rd birthday. They are already fully potty trained. Will they be allowed into the Oceaneer's Club, or will the nursery be our only option?

  • Hi, Camille!

Congratulations on considering a Disney Cruise Line vacation -- my husband and I have never regretted our choice to spend our vacation resources on Disney cruises!  They are of my children's most treasured memories and experiences, and we have been enriched as a family by seeing the world on cruises with Mickey!

With four children of my own, it seems that someone in my family is always on a "threshold" in terms of their age and in which youth activities club they belong.  Yet, once we're on board, it's never as big of a deal as I make it out to be when I'm planning the cruise on land.  So, here's what I suggest...go ahead and book your cruise.  Your twins will be slotted into the nursery age group because of their birthday.  Make your preferred nursery reservations...just in case.  Yet, when you're on board, talk to the counselors at Disney's Oceaneer Club and Lab about your children in order to ask that they be placed there instead of the nursery.  This also will give you the chance to make certain that that is where you'd like for your children to be.  Some of my children thrive on being the oldest in a group-care situation,  and others shrunk in the corner like a violet.

You know your children best, and having a face-to-face with the counselors on board is really the best option for you.  (Yet, don't neglect to have a "back up plan" in case things don't work out like you had originally planned.)  I hope this helps give you comfort as you plan and anticipate your cruise, and please let me know if you think of other questions.

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation.  Bon voyage!

    Andi
