- Hi Denise,
Your fellow Disney-lovin' Ontarian here!
I should begin by saying that of course all children are different and ready for things at different ages. However, from personal experience, I can tell you that when we took our son at the age of 2, it was absolutely the most magical memory of my life. He knew Mickey and when he saw him he just lit up. The memory will never leave me!
Of course, there are things you can do to make traveling to Walt Disney easier at any age. For a two year old (and we had his four year old sister with us too), we rented strollers at the park entrance. This was a lifesaver, because they do get tired!
Another thing we did was to plan our days around them. He was an early riser, so we hit the parks early while he was fresh, and then when he and his sister ran out of steam just after lunch, we headed back to the resort for a quick swim in the pool and then naps (for all of us!). When we all woke up fresh, we headed back to the parks for the cool evening, less crowds and the fireworks.
I took time to check out the park attractions in advance so we knew just what was age appropriate for he and his sister. Where possible, we used Fastpasses to reduce waits in line. We also brought little snacks and toys with us in case they got hungry/bored waiting in line.
Finally I would add that when traveling with little ones, I have noticed that they see magic in the little things...and at Walt Disney World there are magical little things around every corner!
Denise, whatever age you travel with your children will have a magic of its own. Enjoy!
