Disney Cruise Line®
The Disney Parks Moms Panel answers your questions about Disney Cruise Line® .
Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- If you could only do one thing - the cruise or go to Disney World, which would it be? What are the pros and cons to both? Would going on the cruise take care of taking your children to Disney?
- - Asked by Jen from Kentucky on 1/8/2008
- Hello Jen-
This is a tough question to answer especially since I have been on both vacations. However, as the "Rides Mom", I would vote for Walt Disney World Resort if I could only do one though I enjoyed my cruise tremendously and am planning a return cruise in 2009.
Pros of the Disney Cruise:
- All meals are included on the boat
- You can visit different places without repacking a suitcase
- Excellent entertainment for your children on the boat and in the kid only zones
Cons of the Disney Cruise:
You do not have any rides except the pool slides
They may not have the cruise you want at the time you want it
Pros of Walt Disney Resorts:
A wide variety of activities for guests of all ages
Flexibility with meals and when to eat
Variety of accommodations for every budget
Cons of Walt Disney Resorts:
Size often makes people feel overwhelmed
I do not think the Disney Cruise would count as taking your children to Disney. Did you consider combining a Land/Sea trip which is what I did?
I would order the planning videos for Walt Disney World Resorts at http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/index?bhcp=1 and the Disney Cruise at http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/en_US/home/home?name=HomePage , review them as a family to decide what type of vacation everyone would like. Buy-in for all parties will make your trip so much more enjoyable.
I would also investigate travel books such as the Unofficial Guide to Disney, my favorite, to get a sense of each vacation or visit other sites such as Mousesavers to get their perspective, too.
Finally, as you draw closer to a decision, email me directly another question if you want and I will follow up with you.
Best of luck and I think you can not lose either way!
