Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • Disney Dream or Disney Magic? What is the difference other than size?
  • - Asked by Amy from North Carolina on 1/7/2014
  • Welcome aboard, Amy! This is a great question because Disney has four magical cruise ships and each one is very unique. But all four offer exciting activities and events, character greetings, family time, adult time, Youth Clubs and more!

As you know, the Disney Dream is larger than the Disney Magic. The Magic is Disney Cruise Line's first ship, however it just underwent a dramatic re-imagination, revamping the entire ship as well as adding some amazing new spots onboard. Both ships feature an adults only pool, a family pool and a kids' wading pool and splash area. The Dream offers the first watercoaster at sea, the AquaDuck. Following in the Dream's steps, the Magic now features the AquaDunk, a water slide that actually drops guests straight down into the tube below for a fast, wet and wild ride!

You'll find Broadway-style Disney musicals on both ships as well, variety acts, first run Disney movies in the Buena Vista Theatre, and some great Youth Clubs. Check out the difference in the spaces of the Youth Clubs on Disney Cruise Line's website. You'll also find adult activities, spaces and adult exclusive dining on both ships.

Honestly, Amy, if you're trying to decide on which ship to sail, you can't go wrong with any of Disney's ships. I'd suggest simply taking a look at the different itineraries, sail dates, ports of call and cost of each sailing, then compare that with your budget and vacation time and choose whichever ship best works for your family. I promise that no matter which you choose, you're in for a memorable cruise! Happy planning, Amy!
