Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • We are going to Disneyland over the Thanksgiving break. Wondering what apps are the best for character sighting, wait times, maps, and schedules?
  • - Asked by Tonia from California on 11/10/2013
  • Hi, Tonia!

You're going to have a blast exploring The Happiest Place on Earth next week! Here are some Smartphone apps that can help make the most of your time:

-Disney Mobile Magic: This is Disney’s own official app. It features maps and information on the parks, restaurants, hotels and the Downtown Disney District. There are also special features that only unlock when you are at the theme parks! Disney Mobile Magic can give you recommendations for attractions based on current wait times and can tell you where and when to find specific characters.

-Disneyland Lines from TouringPlans.com: This free app provides users with real-time attraction wait times, estimated wait times and Disney FASTPASS distribution and return times. You can update wait times while in the parks to assist others, and there is even a function that measures how long you wait in an attraction queue to improve the wait time feature’s accuracy. It has searchable menus and grants access to the site’s well-known computer-optimized Touring Plans.

-Walkee Disneyland iGuide by MediaLAB, Inc.: This app provides full-color maps for the Disneyland Resort. You can display wait times, create itineraries and checklists, check the entertainment schedule and view menus with prices. It uses the iPhone’s GPS to show your location on the maps and has a timer to keep track of your Disney FASTPASS return times. It also integrates with Twitter to make sharing vacation updates quick and easy!

-A couple “just for fun” apps I like are Disney Photo a Day, which features a high-quality photo taken at Disney Parks each day that you can set as your wallpaper or share with friends, and Disneyland Explorer (my son’s favorite iPad app), which allows you to “swipe” your way through the Disneyland Resort and explore over 130 attractions with fun activities!

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
