  • We have been to DL many of times but our first time during Christmas time. Is it very busy during this time and what should we not miss out on? Also do prices go up for character dinning during this time or on Christmas day?

  • Hi, Suzzanna!

I'm glad to hear you're planning a visit to the Disneyland Resort during the holidays. The seasonal decorations, events, merchandise, attractions and food items make The Happiest Place on Earth even more delightful! By mid-December, park attendance typically begins to pick up, and crowds are the heaviest by the week of Christmas. While theme park crowds will likely be heavy, don’t let your excitement be lessened! Park hours will be long and the entertainment schedule will be bustling, so you should have lots of opportunities to see and do everything on your list. Be sure to utilize Disney’s FASTPASS service when available so you can make the most of your time in the parks.

You won’t want to miss the Haunted Mansion Holiday and “it’s a small world” Holiday attractions, and the "Believe...In Holiday Magic" fireworks show’s finale of snowfall on Main Street, U.S.A. is a must-see. On the “Holiday Time at Disneyland” Tour, you can hear holiday tales from Disneyland Park history, experience seasonal attractions and watch A Christmas Fantasy Parade from a reserved viewing area while enjoying a delicious treat and warm beverage. Please call (714) 781-TOUR (8687) to reserve your spot up to one month in advance.  I’m really excited about a show coming to Disney California Adventure Park called “World of Color—Winter Dreams,” a nighttime water spectacular that will bring all-new and amazing animation to the popular show.

Although holiday dining is not usually significantly more expensive, you should plan to make advance dining reservations as soon as possible to secure a meal at your desired restaurants since it’s a popular time of year to visit. I hope this helps, Suzzanna. Please write back with more questions as you continue to plan your pixie-dusted holiday vacation!

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
