  • my daughter has always wanted to dress up but she's 24 with the mind of an eight year old, diagnosed with autism, adhd, anxiety/depression and more. Is there an exception that she could do this to live her dream? Or is it not allowed for her?

  • The Disneyland Resort is dedicated to making sure that every guest has a magical experience at the Happiest Place on Earth. I have seen cast members do everything they can to ensure that park guests with any disability have their needs met. Disney policy typically prohibits teen and adult guests from dressing in costumes in the parks. Disney wants to make sure that the parks are family friendly. In that spirit, attire that is not appropriate for the theme parks includes but is not limited to adult costumes or clothing that can be viewed as representative of an actual Disney character. I would just use common sense to make sure that the costume is appropriate. You can always bring a change of clothes and leave them in a locker or car and just change if the outfit is not deemed proper. I am confident that your princess can still have a magical vacation that will provide some lasting beautiful memories. You might also want to look into
obtaining a Guest Assistance Card (GAC) from guest services prior to entering the parks. The GAC allows the guest and up to 5 members in the party to avoid certain queues and other alternatives to make sure that her disabilities and needs are met. You also might want to obtain a park schedule and make sure to avoid situations and attractions in the parks that might tend to cause an issue. To obtain a GAC just contact guest services upon arrival. While it is not necessary to bring a note from a physician, I find it to be very helpful to the cast member to help them determine what the best way to make this the best vacation ever. They will assist you in determining what steps will help make him happy. I hope this assists you and I will see you at the parks.
