  • I plan to participate in the 2013 Disney Marathon. I have visited Disney many times, but this will be my first RunDisney adventure. My family, 2 boys, 20 and 17, my husband and my parents plan to come along. Where is the best place to stay? any tips?

  • Hi Lauren!  Congratulations on your decision to run next year!  It's the 20th anniversary of the Disney marathon, so I am sure it will be special.  One good thing about marathon weekend is that ALL of the Disney Resorts are considered host resorts, and therefore have free buses to take you to the starting line and also to the Wide World of Sports for packet pick-up.  (The traffic is horrible, so this is a HUGE benefit)  Since you've been many times, I would base my choice on your budget and resort favorites.  There are some neat things for your family to do as well.  Obviously, they could run one of the races (5K, half marathon, marathon and marathon relay)  They could also be on the ChEAR squad.  The ChEAR squad is a package you can buy that, depending on which level you purchase, will give you access to tents with food and drink and special viewing areas on the course and at the finish line.  They will also definitely want to come with you to the packet pick-up and Health and Fitness Expo at the ESPN Wide World of Sports.  Another fun family thing to do is to buy tickets to the Pasta in the Park party.  This will give you access to a pasta dinner at Epcot and also special seating to the nightly fireworks show at Epcot.  Good luck with your training!
