Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • Trying to pick a resort for marathon weekend in January, how difficult is transportation on race morning? Considering OKW, Saratoga Springs, or possibly BLT. Trying to decide what is more important...room size or bus vs. monorail, THANKS!

  • Hi Amanda:

Having run two Disney World half-thons, I've never found Disney transportation difficult on race morning.  Very Early? Yes.  Difficult? No.  Buses are provided and so long as you hop on a bus one time (information will be provided in your race packets), transportation should be easy.

I've stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge one year and Saratoga Springs the other year.  Both experiences were the same.  I got up very early, hopped on a bus, waited a while, and then ran.  If Bay Lake Tower is an option, taking the monorail is likely a quicker trip with more frequent departures. It's theoretically possible you could sleep in a few minutes longer on race day at a monorail Resort.

    Good luck on the race.
